The CYFS Runaway Emergency Services Program provides free crisis and ongoing counseling to teens as young as 12 who have run away or are at risk of running away or being homeless. The program also offers emergency shelter in host homes and our local group home for up to 21 days to provide a safe place for teens to stay while working to resolve the issues that led to them leaving home. RESP services are available to teens in Charlottesville and Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson counties. All RESP services are free of charge.

24-Hour Teen Crisis Hotline: The telephone hotline is staffed 24-hours a day to teens in crisis. Responses to calls can include offering a friendly ear, arranging for counseling with RESP staff, providing emergency shelter, or referrals to community programs to meet specific needs.

Topic of the Month

But self-defense actually means doing everything possible to avoid fighting someone who threatens or attacks you. Self-defense is about using intelligence, not punches.More
