CYFS is all about kids...
and increasing their chance for a successful future.

Opening doors to bright futures for kids

WHY CYFS? WHY NOW?

Your Dollar Goes a Long Way with CYFS
Research from some of America’s most noted economists confirm that effective early childhood services followed by continued support throughout the school years results in healthier, more productive adults, a stronger workforce, and long-term savings for our community.  CYFS is a leader in the effort to start early with kids and families, removing barriers to success so that kids can have a chance for a bright future.  All of our programs are designed to prevent problems before they have a chance to interfere with kids’ successful development.  Your investment in CYFS returns dividends for kids today as well as our community tomorrow.
At CYFS, we are proud of the fact that 91% of our funds support direct services to clients.  Only 9% goes to administration and fundraising.

CYFS is a Collaborative Partner
CYFS uses your dollars effectively by maximizing direct services and efficiently by collaborating with many local organizations to assure that together we are meeting the needs of kids and families while not duplicating services.   Key collaborating organizations include: Commission on Children and Families, Foothills Child Advocacy Center, Habitat for Humanity, Junior League, PB&J Fund, local Departments of Social Services, United Way – Thomas Jefferson Area, local schools, Salvation Army, Jefferson Area CHIP, SARA, Shelter for Help in Emergency, Region 10, CASA, Commonwealth Attorney’s offices, MACAA, Infant Development Project, The Women’s Initiative, and the Regional Jail, among others.  All of these efforts ensure your dollar has the greatest possible impact.

Where Does CYFS get its Funding?
Every year, CYFS must raise all of its revenue.  CYFS receives about 60% of its funding from local, state and government grants.  But it is important to note that none of these funds are guaranteed.  We must re-apply every funding cycle.  Our donors are critical to our funding success as local dollars help close the gap between government funding and our actual costs and provide the required matching funds necessary to receive available government grants.  To meet our budget for the current fiscal year, we must raise nearly $600,000 from non-government sources including private foundations, and contributions from businesses and individuals like you.
